Last day on the boat which was very sad. Adults were up early for kayaking and snorkelling, some of the kids did a final jump off the boat. Cook went all out for breakfast with eggs and bacon, pancakes, yoghurt and fruit. It was a 3 hour cruise to Kawthaung through quite rough water due to the wind.
It was sad goodbyes to the crew who had been exceptional when we moored and took the dingy to shore. We were herded into the back of a truck taxi much to the kids delight and headed to the airport stopping for lunch on the way at one of the more upmarket local restaurants.
We were relieved to get checked in, as we had no evidence of buying tickets, but not overly surprised to find we had a multi stop flight in our little propellor plane. We felt more comfortable when a senior military person and family were escorted off the plane assuming that provided a level of confidence in both the pilot and plane. It was a 3 hour trip by the time we stopped and dropped and picked up new passengers twice.
Yangon international was still pretty basic with luggage being manually carried off the plane. However it did all arrive and our cars were there to meet us. We went our separate ways from the Gardes, us to a funny hotel in alhone through large amounts of traffic even though it was Saturday night. Lots of neon lights around. We found a great fish restaurant just a couple of minutes walk down the road and turned in early, although the boys were very excited about finding TV again.
