Day 6 Shark Island to Zar Taed Nge Island 2nd January 2015

Our last full day on the boat and we are starting to head back to port. Another beautiful day and sunrise. The other tourist boats we're gone first thing in the morning, but the fishing fleet still there with a supply ship arriving over night with nets, fuel and food. We took the kayaks over for a closer look. The boats are quite large but have about 20 crew on them and are out for about 2 months so one would need to like their fellow shipmates. With the number of nets and fish that we could see it must be a big concern as to how quickly they are going to deplete the waters of the fish. The local fisherman and mon will be having virtually no impact but these large flotillas are another matter. Sienna and Mandy were the subject of quite a few photos from the boats so maybe the current pin up girls. After breakfast we kayaked to the beach, the Gardes toke the dinghy over to the flotilla and managed to get on board which sounded fascinating.

The beach on Shark Island was another perfect beach and you could see where it had been cleared and it looked like grass planted for the Russian wedding. We then snorkelled for over an hour and found we actually had good visibility as well as some great fish including a lion fish. We also snorkelled into a cave which was quite deep with a beach.

On returning back to the boat we cruised to our last nights destination for about 4 hours. The kids have been enjoying playing cards including poker and 21 whilst the adults do crosswords or read and play the occasional game of cards.

On mooring we headed off for a final snorkel in another beautiful bay before the sun go too low. Again quite windy and poorer visibility but a bit to see. Again we had company with a couple of sail boats, fisherman and the Mergui Princess, the other boat that sails out of Myanmar ( not nearly as nice or with as much character). We cracked our final bottle of champagne and had our final dinner excellent. The kids had worked out in the afternoon if they asked the chef for things like hot chips he would make it for them!

Jo Jo had very sweetly put together a slide show of photos of our trip that he had taken which was excellent and hopefully we have a copy. The night was finished off with Baileys and a few rounds of gin rummy and poker before turning in. A lovely final day.....
